Lordi |
Lordi is a melodic heavy rock band from Rovaniemi, Finland. They are well known for their monster like song texts and their strange and also monster like costumes. They became famous in Europe by winning the Eurovision Song contest in 2006.
Because of keeping their masks on all the time, also at interviews, their identity is still a secret. Their identity and their real names are still not known.
Lordi won with their song ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah’ and with 292 points the first place of the Eurovision Song contest 2006, which was the highest score ever reached in the history of the contest. It was also the first time Finland won. The north Finish town Rovaniemi took that as a reason to name a plaza after them.
A few days after their successful gig, a lot of newspapers showed pictures which showed how Lordi could look without their masks. The pictures turned out to be of another Finish metal band, ‘Children of Bodom’. The picture actually showed one ex- bandmember, the earlier keyboarder Enary.
Lordi played one gig in Helsinki after the Eurovision Song contest to celebrate their success. At this concert they played six songs:
* Bringing Back The Balls To Rock
* Blood Red Sandman (national Lordi-hit from 2004)
* Devil Is A Loser (national hit from 2003)
* It Snows In Hell
* Would You Love A Monsterman (national hit from 2002)
* Hard Rock Hallelujah (Eurovision-hit from 2006)
