Life of Agony |
Life of Agony is a hard rock band from Brooklyn, NY. The band was founded in 1989. Their first songs could be described as a mix out of hardcore punk and metal. At the moment you could see them as a kind of rock band.
The first album, ‘River Runs Red’, which became famous in the metal scene, was influenced by Biohazard, who are also from NY.
Their next album ‘Ugly’ became a little successful in the Netherlands, actually there wasn’t any top-40 hit on it. Few time before producing the next album, the drummer Sal Abruscato left the group. He was replaced by Dan Richardson. The new album with the new drummer was given the name ‘Soul Searching Sun’. Many fans thought not longer of Life of Agony while listening to their ‘new’ music, they found it wouldn’t be the same anymore.
Hereon Keith left the band in 1997.
In 1999 the band definitely broke up after releasing a sort of extra album with some old songs. It was named ‘1989-1999’ . All albums were released by the metal label Roadrunner. After the break up of the band all of the band members went on their own ways. Keith started a solo career whereas the other band members started with new bands. (Sal: Supermassiv, Joey: Stereomud and Alan: Among Thieves)
In 2003 they organized two reunion-concerts with all original members. They made a DVD and a CD out of these concerts and released it under the title ‘River Runs Again’. They didn’t need help of any big record label with that. The band rediscovered it´s old energy and decided to go on tour together and to work at a new CD. While they were on their reunion-tour, they also came to the Netherlands and Belgium. The label Roadrunner wanted to make profit out of that reunion and decided to release a ‘Greatest Hits’ album. In 2005 the most recent album of Life of Agony, ‘Broken Valley’, came out.
