Helmet

What Lemmy means for Motörhead, Page Hamilton is for Helmet. As the only original member he kept the band alive and since the beginning of this year they are complete again and ready to start their tour live.

With a history which is already nearly 20 years long, Helmet also belongs by now to the veteran bands. At the metal front they seemed to be some kind of hatchery for talent. For instance Frank Bello (Anthrax), John Tempesta (Testament) and Rob Echeverria (Biohazard) can call themselves also ex-members of Helmet.

Through the years the band delivered wherewithal classics like ‘Betty’ and ‘Meantime’. The last one arranged a success with about 1 mio. sold examples.

After their pit stop from 1998 to 2004 they started again with a familiar sounding album called ‘Size Matters. One of the best numbers on it would be ‘Crashing Foreign Cars’. It was released as a single and was used by EA in ‘Need For Speed: underground 2’. That was the reason that more people than ever heard of that band, the game was sold more than 9 mio. times.

In 2006 the preliminary last album from the band was released: ‘MonoChrome’ . It , like ‘Size Matters’, sounds like typically Helmet, but it actually dispenses with to be that brilliant as the earlier produced album. That leaves the fact that it´s obviously not possible to miss one hour of Helmet at this edition of Wâldrock unaltered.
