Greyline |
Welcome to the world of Greyline. The music these five guys play, breathes a dark atmosphere. Hard riffs, breathtaking melodies and raw vocals - ranging from ‘clean with an edge’ to caveman growls - all work together to create arresting songs with a heavy sound. It’s not easy to describe the style of music Greyline plays. One could call it metal, but not traditional metal.
The band was established in 2002 by current guitarist Job Tichelman. After a few line-up changes the band selfreleased their first record called “Shaping Directions”. Right after the release the German record label Beniihana Records showed interest. Greyline and Beniihana Rec. decided to work together on the band’s first full length record.
In November 2004 Greyline released their first record “Red Carpet Avenue”. You may call this release quite successfull because the first pressing of a thousand copies sold out within 2 months. Together with Burning Skies (UK) they did a 10 days tour, mainly through Germany, as a promotion for this record.
In the beginning of 2005 the bass player announced he couldn’t go along with the band’s ambitious plans. He was replaced by Mart Wijnholds. The band continued where it had left off and started touring again, sharing stages with The Dillinger Escape Plan, Eighteen Visions, Crowbar and many others. Greyline received a lot of good reviews. The well-known Dutch magazine Aardschok wrote: “Between Converge and Shai Hulud this band has found its niche, and they deserve it!”
In 2006 Greyline was chosen to support Textures for their release show in ‘013’, Tilburg (NL). Besides supporting Textures they also opened up for Burst (Swe, Relapse Rec). That year Greyline played over 35 shows, in Holland and abroad (Denmark, Belgium, Swiss, Czech and Germany)
The band is currently working on a pre-production for their third record. The record will be called “Nomads On The Run”. The big difference between the old and new Greyline is a stronger focus on the structure of the songs instead of progressive riffing. Well-structured songs, but still heavy. Each song has its own character. The vocals will probably suprise a lot of you. It will all sound heavier and darker but catchier. We will keep you posted!
Live the band plays mostly new material. Greyline will be performing at the 2008 edition of the Eurosonic Festival. Expect two brand new songs on the Freesonica sampler which will be released during Eurosonic 2008.
Greyline is:
Jabe Piter Faber - vocals & bass
