1349

With 1349 we have the first real black metal band of this edition. As the the blackest of heart won’t consider Hollenthon as being black metal, 1349 without a doubt is as they also come from the primeval soup called Norway.
As much like-minded bands from Norway, 1349 can’t escape from the incestuous relationships with other bands that lead to tremendous cross-contamination. Frost (Kjetil-Vidar Haraldstad) used to drum/still drums for the likes of Gorgoroth, Zyklon-B and of course Satyricon.

As a consequence, the band participated in 2006 in a large part of the American tour of Celtic Frost. This was also the result of the guest performance that Thomas Fischer did on September 20th 2005 with the band during their rendition of 'The Usurper ". After that show Ravn invested in his relation with Celtic Frost and ended up helping to construct parts of "Monotheist '.Currently the band is busy preparing a new album that should be a worthy successor of their back catalogue. Frost has fully recovered from his fractured back to participate.

'Hellfire' remains an icon in the discography of the band (even Terrorizer was keen on this record!). But what the future holds for 1349 and their fans is a mystery until the fourth album has hatched.
